What Is Relay For Life
Cancer Council’s Relay For Life is more than just a fundraiser. It is an opportunity to get together with your community and celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.
Relay For Life is a unique event where teams of 10 to 15 friends, families or colleagues challenge themselves to take turns to keep a baton moving in a relay style walk or run overnight. There are no age limitations or fitness requirements – Relay For Life is suitable for everyone and anyone can join in the fun! Stay for the whole event, camp overnight, or just visit and enjoy the free entertainment, prizes and ceremonies that make Relay For Life so inspirational.
Why Relay
Relay For Life is not just about the amazing experience of spending the weekend with people from your local community. It’s also about the fun ways your team can raise money in the lead up to the day.
Cancer Council is not government funded. We need your support to help to reduce the impact cancer has on our communities.
Every five minutes, another Australian is diagnosed with cancer. While survival rates are improving every day, cancer remains a leading cause of death. That’s why it’s so important that we raise funds to fight cancer. Every dollar raised at Relay For Life helps Cancer Council to:
- Investigate new ways to prevent, detect and treat cancers
- Educate people in your community about ways they can reduce their cancer risk
- Advocate for cancer control
- Support people during their times of greatest need.
Murray Bridge Chapter has raised a team from the Club, Wings and Longriders CMC community. We want to raise as much as we can for this worthy cause. The Relay is over the weekend of 27-28 November 2010. We are looking for people to walk with the team over the weekend and would like your support.
To raise funds, we are planning a number of events which can viewed on the events calendar and they will range from a Mystery Ride/Drive, quiz nights and yes a “karaoke night”. During the Open Nights raffles will be conducted.
cheers
Mr Ed
